Digital Voice Recorder: This little gadget is used in class to record lectures and also serves us in the field when attempting to pick up EVPs. EVP or Electronic Voice Phenomena is the occurrence of a voice or other psychically audible noise that is picked up over a digital recorder not picked up by the human ear.
Digital Video Recorder: A Digital IR or Camcorder is a very useful tool for recording birthday parties, holiday events and even paranormal activity! Who would have thought that documenting evidence with video would be as easy as recording any other normal life event! Any documented evidence will later be played back and examined. The other benefit is that the human eye cannot always see the paranormal activity going on around them. This brings us to our next item.
Digital Camera: A picture is worth a thousand words. Imagine how much an image with a ghost in it is worth! Ok maybe not much, but to a client who wants proof, this is how it is best displayed. Being capable of picking up what the human eye cannot, this device is fairly self explanatory.
EMF Detector: EMF or Electro Magnetic Fields are generated by electrical energy and current which flows through wires or even produced by paranormal activity. If the power is out and your getting a high EMF reading accompanied with that eerie feeling creeping up the back of your neck you should probably snap a picture or if you'd rather...just get out of there! EMF meters come in many forms. More recently K-II EMF meters are becoming more popular for their level of intensity that can be a helpful form of communication. We currently have 4 different types of EMF Meters including a Reed EMF meter, a K-II EMF meter, a MEL-meter, and a MEL K-II meter.
Digital IR Thermometer w/ Ambient air thermometer: When you are not measuring whether your thanksgiving turkey is fully cooked, this handy little device is capable of displaying the temperature of surface objects. The ambient sensor lets us know if areas within the air are becoming hot or cold. This helps because paranormal activity often yields very cold spots.
White Noise Generator: This device generates a static noise that often enables a spirit by giving it a tool to develop an EVP. Think of it like the static you hear on that bad TV channel. If paranormal activity wants to communicate, this device will enable it to.
Negative Ion Generator: This is essentially your Bionic Air Purifier. But we don’t use it to try to clean the dust out of air. Instead we use this to generate an IONIC particle charge that is said to help paranormal activity manifest.
PX/Ovilus: This device made by Bill Chappel of Digital Dowsing allows for communication through the device itself using several different modes. More famously, the Dictionairy mode is a word database that allows a spirit to choose a word that the device will sound. This device also has a Phonetic mode which allows the entity to communicate using any phonetic syllables. There are several other modes equipped on this device that also come in very useful.
AM/FM Sweep: This is a basic AM/FM radio that quickly sweeps through all different stations in order for a spirit to attempt to communicate through the static white noise being emitted.
Infrared Spotlight: Along with out Camcorder IR lights, we use an infrared spotlight to completely illuminate anything we view through the camera or camcorder. This light source does not affect the human eye as it is not on a visable spectrum. So basically we light up the night without giving up the night.
